Yankees News: Alex Rodriguez Apology Presser In The Bronx?
By Jason Evans
At some point, we will hear from Alex Rodriguez. At some point, he will give us some information about what happened over the past couple of years and why he did some of the things that he did. That info may not be coming in Tampa, where the Yankees’ pitchers and catchers are set to report this week (Finally!)
According the NY Daily News, the apology presser may be happening at Yankee Stadium, and not in Tampa.
"The Yankees have offered Alex Rodriguez the option of making a public apology at Yankee Stadium, rather than creating a massive distraction at spring training with his mea culpa news conference.According to sources close to the matter, should Rodriguez opt to have a press conference, the club’s preference is to avoid the media melee that is sure to surround A-Rod if the steroid-stained slugger delivers an apology prior to rejoining the Yankees after his season-long drug suspension. The Yankees would rather have A-Rod meet the media in New York than anywhere in Tampa."
The Yankees would rather he not do it during Spring Training and they feel he owes it to the fans to give some sort of explanation about everything that has happened the past couple of seasons. Rodriguez has yet to respond to the request.

Another interesting bit of information to come out of that article is that the Yankees have no intention of paying A-Rod his bonus money and that Alex is free to challenge them on it and file a grievance.
I both agree and disagree with the Yankees organization on this.
Should A-Rod hold some sort of press conference? Yes. Should he offer up some sort of apology and give some explanation as to why he did what he did? Yes. Is he doing it so that some day maybe he gets into the Hall of Fame? Sure. But should he do it in NY? No.
Just do it in Tampa. Get it over with. Why wait to do it in NY? All the media will be there. He already did one apology press conference down there, may as well make it two. Why have the cloud surround him and the club everyday?
This press conference should be like taking off a band-aid. Do it. Do it quickly. Get it over with. Move on.
It’s what is best for both Alex and the club in 2015.
