YGY Radio Rewind: Chris Martin Interview

facebooktwitterreddit

On this episode of the Yanks Go Yard Radio Show, brought to you by KNODA.com, I started off the episode by talking with one of the newest members of the New York Yankees, reliever Chris Martin. After being DFA’d by the Rockies, Martin was acquired by the Yankees in a trade with Colorado on January 13.

During my interview with Martin, I talked with him about the following topics:

  • His reaction when he found out he was going to New York
  • What is the arsenal of pitches that he brings to the mound?
  • His role models off the field that have helped him in his career
  • What it was like to pitch in Coors Field and in Colorado Springs?
  • The interaction he had in Triple-A with Chris Capuano last season?
  • Does he approach the mound different when he is out there to save a game?
  • The things he learned in the 16 games with the Rockies last season

More from Yankees News

After my interview with Martin, I discussed how I thought the Yankees’ playoff chances might actually be better now that Max Scherzer is in the National League. Scherzer signed a seven-year, $210 million contract with the Washington Nationals last Sunday night.

To discuss Scherzer signing with the Nats, I spoke with Brandon Conner, one of the staff writers over at District On Deck. In addition to discussing the signing as well as the unique contract Scherzer received, here are the other topics that I debated with Brandon about:

  •  Will the Nationals keep this rotation together or trade Jordan Zimmermann/Stephen Strasburg?
  • Does the Scherzer signing make 2015 championship or bust for the Nats?
  • Tanner Roark potentially moving to the bullpen
  • Will Mike Rizzo sign a big-time free agent to fill the 8th inning void?
  • The Nats’ issue with MASN in terms of TV rights
  • The Nats’ depth of pitching prospects in the Minor Leagues
