YGY Radio Show Rewind: World Series Recap/Yankees’ Farm System Talk

On this episode of the Yanks Go Yard Series Preview Show, brought to you by KNODA.com, I started off the show by talking about the memorable Game 7 of the World Series that took place in Kansas City on Wednesday night. The story of the World Series was Giants’ staring pitcher, Madison Bumgarner. Bumgarner won two games during the World Series, but the memorable moment for him in the postseason was the five innings of two-hit ball he threw to finish off the Giants winning their third World Series in the last five years.

Now, the offseason has officially begun and there’s already news around Major League Baseball, For one, Joe Maddon is no longer the manager of the Tampa Bay Rays and could be on his way to managing the Chicago Cubs. The other news in the AL East was the Boston Red Sox re-signing Koji Uehara to a two-year, $18 million contract to remain the team’s closer, I talked with Yanks Go Yard’s co-editor Jason Evans about these topics, should the Royals have sent Alex Gordon to try to score in the bottom of the ninth inning, and we discussed the Yankees talking with former Bronx Bomber Raul Ibanez as another candidate in their search for a new hitting coach.

One of the other topics that was discussed on this episode is the success of the Yankees’ prospects down in the Arizona Fall League. Gregory Bird leads the Fall League in home runs with six and RBI’s with 17. The story on Thursday afternoon was right fielder Aaron Judge hitting two home runs in the game to increase his total to four. Right fielder Tyler Austin is hitting .322 with two home runs and 13 RBI’s. All things seem to be looking up in the system. To discuss the farm system, I talked with Matt Kardos, the co-founder of Rolling Thunder and a beat writer for the Yankees’ AA-affiliate, the Trenton Thunder.
