5. LHP Giovanny Gallegos (0-0, 0.00 ERA)

Gallegos is not being used as a starter down in the Mexican League for Yaquis De Obregon, but the left-hander has done a good job in a limited amount of work. In six relief appearances, the 23-year-old has not given up a run, only allowed four hits, and struck out six in 5.2 innings of work. However, the most innings that he has thrown in an outing is an inning and a third. That being said, the winter is a continuation of the success the lefty had down the stretch of the Low-A season.

In seven appearances in August, which included one start, the pitcher from Obregon, Mexico went 1-1 with a 2.01 ERA, struck out 22 batters and only walked three. It was a good way to end a rough season for Gallegos (5-5, 4.57 in 29 games, 6 starts). This season, his opponents’ batting average was .298, 20 points higher than his 2013 season with Staten Island. There seems to be a lot of upside for the lefty now that he seems to be continuing his run from the South Atlantic Season, where he had the third highest strikeout total (91) for the Charleston Riverdogs.
