Player To Watch

If the White Sox were a better team, Jose Abreu would get serious consideration as a contender for the AL MVP, not just the Rookie of the Year Award. In just under 500 at-bats, Abreu has hit 32 home runs with 90 RBI. His OBS is .955 and he is slugging almost .600. The Yankees lucked out and missed him when they visited U.S. Cellular Field earlier in the season, but won’t be as fortunate this time out.

The slugger would be a dream in Yankee Stadium, and could potentially be a nightmare all weekend long. If I was Joe Girardi, the rookie wouldn’t see a pitch the entire weekend. I’d rather make the rest of the team beat the Bombers over the weekend. The other guy to keep an eye on, is Adam Dunn. While he will never hit for average, he does have a home run and four driven in against the Yankees in 17 plate appearances this season.
