Game Two

In the middle game of this three-game set, the Yankees send efficient experience back to the bump, as Hiroki Kuroda tries to keep the Yankees in the game on Saturday afternoon. At 8-8, with a 3.97 ERA, is hasn’t been the best season for Kuroda, who is most likely in his final weeks in pinstripes, but he pitched a solid game his last time out against the Tampa Bay Rays. Tossing 97 pitches, Kuroda went 6 2/3 innings, allowing only 2 earned runs against the AL East rivals. There were concerns that Kuroda was once again wearing down, and was originally considered to be skipped for his turn in the rotation in Tampa, but showed no ill-signs of fatigue against the Rays.

Scott Carroll gets the call for the pale hose, and is making his first start ever at Yankee Stadium. He’s pitched two innings of relief against the Yankees, posting a 4.50 ERA with a pair of strikeouts. This is another great opportunity for the Yankees’ bats to wake up, and build some momentum. The Bombers have two pretty solid arms going for them in the first two games of the series, and they need to take full advantage of Chicago’s poor starting rotation to start stockpiling wins heading into September.
