GULF COAST LEAGUE

Gulf Coast Yankees 1 (31-19) lost to the GCL Braves 12-0.

It was a dismal night for the Gulf Coast Yankees 1 squad. A familiar face from the Yankees bullpen the past two seasons made a rehab start and it was not at all pretty. Preston Claiborne was beaten down over his two innings of work, allowing five runs to cross on five hits while striking out just one. The lone positive was that he didn’t walk anyone. Yankees 2014 third round draft pick, Austin DeCarr, also looked terrible, allowing four more GCL Braves to score in his 1.1 inning of work. He allowed three hits and one walk while striking out none. Right fielder Ramon Flores continued his way back to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre after his freak injury has had him on the pine for over a month. Flores doubled Monday evening and is batting .200 since he began his rehab stint. He will be a welcomed addition to the RailRiders line-up upon his return. The 22-year old left handed outfielder was hitting .261 with five home runs and 19 RBI atop the RailRiders line-up until a bean ball sent him to the DL. The GCL Yankees 1 remain in first place.

BOX SCORE

Gulf Coast Yankees 2 (30-21) defeated the GCL Pirates 4-3.

The first place GCL Yankees 2 continued to roll.
