Game 2

Taking the bump at Fenway for Game 2 of the three-game tilt for the Yankees, is rookie Shane Greene (2-1, 3.28). After two dominating starts to open his big league career, Greene struggled in his one loss, committing three fielding errors in one inning. That was the first time that has happened for the Yankees, since former hurler Tommy John did the same thing back in 1988.

Greene looks to hold onto a starting rotation spot, as aside from the one rough outing against the Texas Rangers, he has been a solid replacement option for an injury-depleted Yankees’ squad. His last outing against the Blue Jays, he bounced back nicely, tossing 5 1/3 innings, allowing 3 earned runs on 8 hits in a no-decision effort.

Trying to keep the revamped Yankees’ lineup in check on Saturday, will be Allen Webster. Webster, who was the Red Sox’ number 5 prospect when he was promoted to the big leagues, took over the rotation spot formerly held by Jake Peavy, who was dealt to the San Francisco Giants. Webster won his debut outing against the Tampa Bay Rays, allowing 2 runs, on 3 hits, but did walk 4 .
