On this week’s episodes of the Yanks Go Yard Radio Show, we looked at the prospects the Yankees got back in trades for Andrew Miller and Carlos Beltran

It’s been a busy last couple of days for the New York Yankees as they became sellers at the trade deadline for the first time since 1989. On Sunday, they dealt closer Andrew Miller to the Cleveland Indians for four prospects, including outfielder Clint Frazier and pitcher Justus Sheffield.

Then, yesterday, the Bronx Bombers traded right fielder Carlos Beltran to the Texas Rangers for three prospects, including right-handed pitcher Dillon Tate, who was the fourth pick in the 2015 MLB Draft. Even though the Yankees won’t be playing postseason baseball this season in all likelihood, general manager Brian Cashman did an excellent job adding more young talent to the farm system.

During Sunday night’s show, my first guest was Brad Bournival, who writes about the Akron Rubberducks (Indians double-A affiliate) for the Akron-Beacon Journal. Brad gave his take on the trade for Miller and talked about what the Yankees are getting in Frazier, who hit .276 with 13 home runs and 48 RBI’s in 89 games before being promoted to triple-A on July 25.

More from Yanks Go Yard

In our discussion about Frazier, we talked about some of the strengths and weaknesses of his game, his versatility at the three outfield positions, and whether or not he will be able to handle the pressure in New York when he gets called up . Plus, which reliever between Ben Heller and J.P Feyereisen will likely make the big leagues first, according to Brad.

After my conversation with Brad, I spoke with Michael LeColant of Rising Apple to talk about this week’s Subway Series and get his take on the Mets season so far. We discussed the Mets trade deadline needs before they went out and acquired Jay Bruce from the Reds on Monday.

On yesterday’s Yanks Go Yard Radio Show, my first guest was Aaron Cox, who is the play-by-play announcer for the Hickory Crawdads (Texas Rangers low-A affiliate). Aaron gave his impressions on Tate and what he’s been working on down in the minor leagues. Plus, we talked about the other Hickory prospect in the deal (pitcher Erik Swanson) and what he has seen from the Yankees’ South Atlantic League affiliate (the Charleston Riverdogs).

To end yesterday’s trade deadline special, my guests for the final hour were Chris Lacey of NGSC Sports to talk about the Tyler Clippard trade from the Diamondbacks and Jason Evans from Call To The Pen to talk more about the Yankees trade deadline and who were the winners and losers around Major League Baseball. I have put the two links to the episodes at the end of this article.
