During last night’s episode of the Yanks Go Yard Radio Show, we previewed the Yankees next series against the Baltimore Orioles

On last night’s episode of the Yanks Go Yard Radio Show, I started off the episode by talking about the latest trade rumors surrounding the New York Yankees with the trade deadline two weeks from today. Then, I gave my takeaways from the Yankees (45-46) recent series against the Boston Red Sox. Keep in mind this episode was recorded before last night’s win.

Tonight, the Yankees continue their ten game homestand when they begin a four game series against the Baltimore Orioles (53-37). New York is currently 8.5 games behind the O’s in the AL East and they are 5.5 games out of the second Wild Card spot.

This season, the Orioles are 4-2 against the Yankees, but tonight is the first game these two teams play at Yankee Stadium this season. Baltimore has won six of its last eight games and they have a two game lead on Boston in the AL East.

The strength of Buck Showalter’s squad is the offense, which leads the American League in home runs (141), is second in slugging percentage (.464), and fourth in runs scored (450). Mark Trumbo (.287, 28 home runs, 68 RBI’s), has five home runs in his last ten games and third baseman. The player who leads the Orioles in RBI’s this month is shortstop J.J. Hardy (.349, two home runs, nine RBI’s) in 11 games.

More from Yanks Go Yard

Right now, the Orioles are looking for some help in the starting rotation. Yesterday, Dylan Bundy made his first start of the season and only went 3.1 innings in a loss. Their starters have a 5.14 ERA, which is the second highest of any team in the American League.

Despite those struggles from the rotation, Chris Tillman has looked like the pitcher he was in 2014. He has 13 wins on the season and has given up three combined runs in his last 21 innings.

For last night’s episode, my guest was the co-editor of The Baltimore Wire, Joe Serpico. Joe gave his take on Bundy’s start yesterday and which Oriole between Trumbo and Manny Machado (.312, 19 home runs, 54 RBI’s) has the best chance at AL MVP. Here are some of the other topics we discussed:
