It was not okay at the corral today as the New York Yankees were shutout by David Price and the Toronto Blue Jays 6-0 on Cowboy Hat Day at Yankee Stadium. Yankees fans donned the hats which sported the Yankee insignia.

The offenses for both teams struggled at the start. Through three innings, the Blue Jays had managed just two hits and the Yankees had none. The difference was that the Blue Jays were running up Ivan Nova´s pitch count. Nova tallied 57 pitches through the third.

The Yankees mounted their first threat in the bottom of the fourth. Alex Rodriguez got it started with a single to left, then, with two out, Carlos Beltran added a single of his own to give the Yankees runners on first and second, but Chase Headley flied out to center for the third out.

The high, early pitch count caught up to Nova in the sixth. As he closed in on 100 pitches, Toronto loaded the bases. Manager Joe Girardi elected to stick with Nova against Justin Smoak. Smoak responded by hitting the first grand slam of his career to put the Jays up 4-0.

The Jays added another run in the seventh when Troy Tulowitzki homered off of Bryan Mitchell. The Yankees missed a chance to score in their half of the inning when Brendan Ryan popped out with Headley on third and Didi Gregorius on first.

The good news for the Yankees was that Bryan Mitchell continues to have high velocity. Although he did surrender the home run to Tulowitzki, he continued to reach the high 90´s on his fastball and allowed the Yankees to rest their bullpen.

The Jays added a run in the eighth on an infield single by Russell Martin. Price allowed just three hits in seven innings. Nova allowed four runs on four hits before leaving with one out in the sixth.
