Yankees News: Mariano Rivera on Teams Bullpen

Don’t worry Yankees fans, despite Dellin Betances struggle to regain his velocity and skipper Joe Girardi remaining mum on who will be the teams closer to start the regular season, former closer Mariano Rivera says the bullpen will be just fine.

Baseball’s all-time leader in saves dropped into the teams spring training complex on Saturday and told George King III of the New York Post that “The bullpen will be fine. I trust and believe.”

With David Roberston, the right-hander who took over as the every day closer after Rivera retired in 2014 now in Chicago as a member of the White Sox, the Bronx Bombers have high expectations for southpaw Andrew Miller and the young Dellin Betances to handle the ninth inning duties.

However, one alarming statistic that has gone unnoticed this spring, is that both Andrew Miller and Dellin Betances have a combined number of just two saves over twelve years of major league experience. For me this is pretty alarming and certainly a cause for concern.
