Yankees News: Yankee Great Sees the Next Dave Winfield in Aaron Judge

Every spring teams bring in former players to become instructors, and the Yankees brought in this spring the great Mr. October, Reggie Jackson. Mr. October has seen a Yankee prospect and given him high praise. This player is 6’7 Aaron Judge, and Mr.October has compared him to another giant, Dave Winfield. Mr. October also compared Judge’s strength to Willie Stargell and Willie McCovey.

This Spring Training for the Yankees Judge has open a lot of eyes with his raw power. Reggie Jackson stated in the article about Judge,

"He can miss the ball and hit the ball over the fence. He hit a homer the other day in Clearwater. It was a fly ball for him. It was a routine fly ball. His routine fly balls are 380. He hit a 400-foot fly ball and missed it. He hit a 400-foot fly ball and missed it for a homer. He can do that if he is swinging late. He can hit the ball out of the ballpark from line to line. All he has to do is square the ball."

Now being a millennial, I have never seen Winfield, Stargell, or McCovey played, (Only highlights of them CRUSHING the ball) but I can see the comparisons being made. They are all tall corner outfielders, that all are in the Hall of Fame. That being said what Mr. October said about Aaron Judge is nice, and makes the fan base excited for the future, but it does not really mean anything.

There are always great prospects that are next the big thing and is just like this superstar, but Judge needs to cancel out that noise. Judge needs to keep improving day by day, and play with in himself. The worst thing Aaron Judge could do is trying to live up to those players, and try to become them.

The way Aaron Judge has carried himself this spring I have the utmost confidence that he will still play with in himself, and lead he could be the next in line to be the next true power hitter in the Yankee line up.
