Yankees Game Recap: Yankees Fall Short In Nightcap Vs Pirates

Chris Capuano was brought back this season to be a part of the Yankees rotation, at least for the first part of the year until Ivan Nova comes back. His first start this season wasn’t exactly the best. Capuano struck out four in his two innings, but gave up a homer and the Pirates beat the Yankees 3-1.

The Pirates got all of their runs using the home run ball. In the second, Pedro Alvarez singled and then Tony Sanchez blasted a two run homer to right center.

David Carpenter and Chris Martin held the Pirates scoreless in the third and fourth.

Jose Ramirez came in in the fifth and gave up a solo shot to Jaff Decker.

Alex Rodriguez appeared in his second game and went 0-2 with a walk. Carlos Beltran made his spring debut, struck out twice and walked once.

The Yankees offense didn’t get going until the eighth and only had five hits for the entire game. Eddy Rodriguez doubled, went to third on a single by Francisco Arcia and scored on Jake Cave‘s single.

The Yankees pitching looked good otherwise, striking out 12 for the game, while only walking two.

The Yankees head to Kissimmee to take on the Astros. Scott Baker will make his Yankees debut against Dallas Keuchel making his spring debut at 1:05. You can listen to the game on WFAN or on the MLB At Bat app.
