Last night, the Yanks Go Radio Network brought to you, the second episode of “The Editor’s Desk” sponsored by Knoda.com! Yanks Go Yard co-editor and host Billy Brost had as guests, his co-editor from the site, Jason Evans, and halfway through the episode, they were joined by senior staff writer and host of the original Yanks Go Yard Radio Show, Ricky Keeler.

More from Yankees News

When the show opened, Billy and Jason discussed the big news of the day, the Yankees’ resigning of third baseman Chase Headley to a four-year, $52 million dollar deal. Topics surrounding the Headley signing included:

  • Does the signing stunt the growth of minor league prospects Rob Refsnyder, Jose Pirela and Gregory Bird?
  • Jason and Billy’s reaction to the terms of the deal, was it too long, too much money?
  • What do the Yankees now do with Alex Rodriguez?
  • Can A-Rod, Mark Teixeira and Chase Headley co-exist and all remain healthy?
  • What Yankees farmhand pitchers might see a chance in spring training?

Aside from the re-signing of Headley, Jason and Billy also discussed the departure of both former Yankees’ closer David Robertson and starting pitcher Brandon McCarthy. The view by some Yankees’ fans that D-Rob is a sellout, like Robinson Cano a year ago, was discussed as well. Billy and Jason moved on to remaining “bargain bin” options for the Yankees to bring back to the starting rotation. Since the airing of this episode, the Yankees re-signed lefty Chris Capuano to a one-year deal.

Senior writer Ricky Keeler joined Jason and Billy, and the three of them reviewed the Winter Meetings out in San Diego and other topics including:

  • Winners and losers from the Winter Meetings
  • The futures of Rob Refsnyder and Jose Pirela
  • Remaining starting rotation options for the Yankees, including trade options
  • Would Cole Hamels be a viable option depending on the prospect package going the other way
