Yankees Re-sign Chris Capuano

Per Jack Curry of the YES Network, the New York Yankees have come to terms with left-handed pitcher Chris Capuano on a one-year deal, worth $5 million dollars. This takes care of another item on the Yankees winter checklist, as the team had two open slots in the starting rotation with the free agent departure of Brandon McCarthy to the Los Angeles Dodgers and the uncertain return of Hiroki Kuroda.

While there is no guarantee that Capuano is in the rotation, he has also served as a long man out of the bullpen in years past. The Yankees acquired Capuano last season from the Colorado Rockies, after starting the season with rival Boston. In 12 starts for the Yankees in 2014, Cap posted a record of 2-3, with an ERA of 4.25 in just over 65 innings of work. He had previously discussed leaving MLB for Japan, after enjoying a recent visit with other big leaguers on their annual tour to the Far East.
