YGY Radio Show Rewind: Winter Meetings Preview

On this episode of the Yanks Go Yard Radio Show, presented by KNODA.com, the focus of the entire hour was focused solely on the upcoming Winter Meetings. With the Meetings taking place next week, we at YGY wanted to announce that there will be a LIVE episode of the radio show every day during the meetings from 9:30 PM ET to 10:30 PM ET breaking down all the news, rumors, free agent signings, and trades that happen in San Diego.

Since we last did the show, there have been plenty of big moves happening in the Major Leagues. The Oakland Athletics traded third baseman Josh Donaldson to the Toronto Blue Jays for Brett Lawrie and a couple of prospects, the Seattle Mariners signed designated hitter Nelson Cruz to a four-year deal and outfielder Nick Markakis got a four-year deal from the Atlanta Braves. Even with all these moves, there are still plenty of players to be had via free agency and trades, especially the big three pitchers of Jon Lester, Max Scherzer, and James Shields.

My first guest on the show was Yanks Go Yard and Friars On base co-editor Jason Evans. Jason and I discussed the Yankees’ pursuit of lefty reliever Andrew Miller as well as the possibility of New York forming a super bullpen with Miller, Dellin Betances, and maybe David Robertson. We also discussed whether or not New York would look to trade for a shortstop next week, where Jon Lester might sign, and is Chase Headley still a possibility for New York due to the four-year, $65 million contract he reportedly has been offered by an unknown team.

My second guest on the show was Dave Hill, writer at Climbing Tal’s Hill as well as the MLB Editorial Director at Fansided. Dave gave his thoughts on the Astros’ reported pursuit of David Robertson and whether or not there is legitimate interest or is it Robertson driving up the price for the Yankees. Plus, what are the other needs for Houston as they head to San Diego? Since Dvae has now been on the show representing three different teams, we also talked about the other hot topics in MLB.
