Pitching Matchup

The young rookie sensation, Shane Greene will get the start for the Yankees, as this will be his first time facing the Rays. He comes into this game with an impressive 3-1 record and 2.89 ERA.

Greene will be facing some stealth competition, as Drew Smyly will get the start for the Rays. Smyly will enter this contest having posted a 1-1 record and 2.08 ERA.

Greene continues to prove to the Yankees why he should remain in the rotation, as he is coming off of arguably his best start yet since being called up to the majors. He went eight plus innings, and just allowed five hits, as the Yankees were able to win the final game of the series against the Tigers 1-0. If Greene is able to have his stuff that he had in his last outing, he will be able to motor on right through this powerful Rays line up.

Smyly is coming off a great outing as well, as he went 7.2 innings, and blanked the Rangers on Monday. He has now struck out 104 batters in just 118 1/3 innings this year. This start will mark Smyly’s home debut this season, and the Yankees need to not give him too much spotlight, by taking the lead early on.
