Prior to Saturday’s 9-1 drubbing of the Red Sox, the Yanks paid homage to Roger Maris and Mickey Mantle’s epic home run chase of 1961. The team went all out and brought in family and former teammates of the two players. It really was a special event.
What made the day even more special is that the Rays beat the Jays to cut Beantown’s lead in the Wild Card race to 1 1/2 games. It’s true, the Greatest Team Ever is on the doorstep of a 2007 Mets-esque collapse.
