Brian Cashman's approach to the MLB trade deadline is suddenly unraveling. As if Jake Bird being sent to the minors wasn't the greatest of looks for Cashman's moves at the deadline, injuries have come for the newest players added to the Yankees' roster at the deadline. Before their game against the Houston Astros on Sunday, the Yankees announced that Amed Rosario has been placed on the 10-day IL with a left SC joint sprain.

The news of Rosario landing on the IL comes just a day after the team revealed they will be without Austin Slater for the next 4-6 weeks. Slater is recovering from a hamstring strain, so the hope is that Rosario will be back much sooner for the Yankees.

The general recovery for SC joint sprain is approximately 1-2 weeks. There is a chance Rosario will be ready as soon as his IL stint is over, and that would be the best-case scenario for a Yankees team that suddenly finds itself feeling the pressure in the American League Wild-Card race

Another Yankees deadline addition just landed on the injured list

In the days before the deadline, the Yankees sent Clayton Beeter and Browm Martinez to the Nationals for Rosario. Rosario was off to a hot start with the Yankees, collecting 4 hits through his first 7 plate appearances with the team. Above all else, for a Yankees team that has been forced to use Aaron Judge as a designated hitter over the last week, Rosario's versatility was much-needed for the team's bench.

If nothing else, this is another chance for Aaron Boone to give J.C. Escarra a look at catcher over the next week, especially as the team tries to navigate a world where Austin Wells has become a major liability in the starting lineup.

It's not just current Yankees who are dealing with the injury bug this weekend. Yankees' Hall of Fame closer Mariano Rivera is confirmed to have torn his Achilles during the team's Old-Timers' Day game on Saturday.
