Brian Cashman may believe he has "really good players" on his current Yankees roster, and that he did the bulk of his offseason work ... back in July. No matter what he says about the state of his ventures and what he can and cannot do, it's clear the fan base's list of grievances is larger than his budget.
Now, with Day 2 of the Winter Meetings upon us, we're going to try to break it all down. Will Cashman's quest for a right-handed outfield bat finally come to fruition? Will he make a "challenge trade," like the Michael Pineda swap he recently recalled? And what's Cody Bellinger's market up to, especially after the Kyle Schwarber domino fell early? It's unclear how many additional top-end position players will be moving for the rest of the week, though the trade market is certainly bubbling in Schwarber's wake.
So far? Devin Williams speaking on MLB Network about his difficulties with the Yankees might be the most New York has factored into the buzz on the floor on Day 2. Remember when the Yanks used to be the Dodgers? Splurging? Scaring people? That was nice.
