Turns out, there's a whole different layer of the New York Yankees' championships and World Series appearances manifesto. And we get to talk more about it in 2024, as they're set to meet the Los Angeles Dodgers in the Fall Classic starting on Friday.
This historic inter-league rivalry dates back to 1941, the first time these teams did battle in October. That's 83 years in the making! Pretty incredible.
Though it may not feel like it anymore because the Dodgers' relocation is far in the past, there's some bad blood between Yankees and Dodgers fans. This was an inter-city battle for decades until the Dodgers were moved to Los Angeles in 1958.
The 2024 World Series will usher in a different kind of rivalry between the fanbases on opposite coasts. Don't forget, these remain international fanbases, so the game has changed. But it's important to know your history, kids!
