Yankees radio call of Vladimir Guerrero Jr. ALDS grand slam is an instant mood-killer

Yes, even worse than that stupid foghorn.

Through the first two games of the Yankees-Blue Jays ALDS showdown, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has both made a pretty good case for believing that Aaron Judge's playoff struggles will turn around and made Judge's (and Giancarlo Stanton's) current level of output feel levels more depressing.

Guerrero Jr. entered this postseason having come up remarkably small in Toronto's recent spate of two-game sweeps at the hands of the likes of Seattle and Minnesota. In three series prior to the Yankees' arrival, he was a combined 3-for-22 with a double and no home runs.

Of course, he perked up when his favorite opponent came to town this time — to say the least. Not only did Guerrero Jr. find another gear for the team that once reneged on a deal with his father back n 2004, but he obliterated anything Big Papi ever did by starting the series 6-for-7 with a pair of monumental blasts (before making two outs against the Yankees' bullpen to end Game 2 — you know, like a total loser).

The biggest blow by far was the grand slam off Will Warren to stretch Toronto's lead from 5-0 (pretty much over) to 9-0 (absolutely, unfathomably finished). The game (and series) already felt over before Vladdy strode to the plate, but he removed all doubt and gave the nation of Canada a moment to remember with one of the most predictable grannys in the grand history of this game.

Yankees radio announcer Dave Sims, who was simply trying to enjoy his first season replacing John Sterling without calling a nuclear annihilation at the hands of an AL East rival, found himself resigned to fate as soon as the ball left Guerrero's bat. You can hear the exact moment his heart rips in half. We know the feeling.

It must be pretty great to watch your stars be stars, right?

This series now heads back to the Bronx, a borough Guerrero Jr. claimed he'd never entertain signing in before the Blue Jays put their money where their mouth was.

He's never entertained not hitting in the Bronx, though, which is a real shame. It'd be great for all parties if he'd entertain that.
