The sky isn't falling, but injuries are a sore subject with New York Yankees fans. And there have been a bunch to start camp, with Giancarlo Stanton's being the most glaring and most talked about. On Thursday, Aaron Boone provided a roundup regarding some guys on the mend.
For Stanton, the news still isn't great. On top of going back to New York for testing on his elbows, he's said to be dealing with a personal matter that came out of nowhere when Boone dropped that bomb on the media earlier in the week.
As of right now, there's no timetable for Stanton to rejoin the team. There's no timetable for him to begin baseball activities. It's unclear when he'll be ready to play again. It's unfortunate, but the Yankees must figure out a way to get by without their second-most feared hitter in the lineup.
Aaron Boone said he does not know when Giancarlo Stanton might rejoin the team. "I don't. Hopefully soon."

Yankees News: Scott Effross, Jake Cousins and Jorbit Vivas updates
Also earlier this week, the Yankees watched Scott Effross go down after just one inning of work at spring training. Against the Twins on Tuesday, Effross threw one pitch and immediately left the game with a hamstring injury.
Per Boone, it is a Grade 2 strain and "it's going to take some time." Effross certainly won't be ready for Opening Day, and this injury will further add to the woes that have limited him to just 3 1/3 innings since the start of 2023.

In better news, fellow righty reliever Jake Cousins is on the mend. One of the bullpen saviors of 2024, Cousins arrived to spring training dealing with a forearm strain, leaving many worried about his 2025 status.
He's apparently passed his last few tests and will begin a throwing program on Monday, which is massive news as the Yankees look to bridge the gap to Luke Weaver and Devin Williams as best they can. Cousins' slider is an absolutely dominant pitch (.141 opponents' batting average and .272 slugging) the bullpen must have featured this season.
Jorbit Vivas has been held out of games due to shoulder soreness. He's getting close to playing again, Aaron Boone said.

And finally ... were you wondering where Jorbit Vivas has been? The top prospect was acquired in a trade with the Dodgers last year and Yankees fans were excited about his arrival. He's a versatile defender who hits from the left side of the plate and was (at the time) believed to be a potential successor to Gleyber Torres.
But he struggled a bit in 2024 and dealt with some injuries. As for the start of 2025, he's been held out of action due to shoulder soreness. Boone says Vivas is "getting close to playing again," but we have no idea what that means, as no concrete timeline was provided.
The hope is that fans see Vivas log some spring training reps so we can get a better idea of where the Yankees' infield depth stands. Things are moving fast, though, so Vivas is running out of time to make an impression.
