Alright, New York Yankees fans. Brace yourselves for some unsavory injury news. Wait, do you even need to? Shouldn't we be numb to it all at this point? Every spring training, the team reveals something either devastating or close to it, and this year is no different.

Let's start with Giancarlo Stanton, who is currently dealing with two elbow injuries that are likely to jeopardize his availability for Opening Day. Late last week, manager Aaron Boone said there was no timetable for the slugger to resume baseball activities.

On Sunday night, it was revealed Stanton was heading back to New York City to meet with Dr. Chris Ahmad and likely undergo testing. The lone good news? Surgery has not been "seriously considered" but will that matter if the imaging reveals unexpected results?

Stanton has not swung a bat in "nearly a month" as a result of this injury the Yankees have known about since last year. Nonetheless, they refused to address the potential vacancy in free agency and opted to inform everybody of the news the day he arrived to spring training. Brilliant stuff.

Yankees Injury Update: Chase Hampton Tommy John surgery, Trent Grisham progress

And the hits keep on coming. Yankees top prospect Chase Hampton will miss all of 2025 after an elbow injury diagnosis that will force him to undergo Tommy John surgery.

That news dropped Friday, just days after Boone said Hampton was set to undergo testing because he had "something going on" with his UCL. Hampton was limited to just a few starts in 2024 due to unclear injury issues, which ranged from shoulder to forearm to elbow.

It appears it was either the elbow the entire time, or the strain of another injury affected the health of his UCL. This is a notable hit for the Yankees pitching staff, which was, to some degree, relying on a Hampton surge to eventually help the overall depth.

And finally, we have Trent Grisham, who was supposed to be the next line of defense for any Stanton injury. Problem is, he was injured before he even arrived to Tampa! It really gets more and more unbelievable.

Grisham suffered a hamstring injury during his offseason workouts, but it was believed he was close to making a return. On Feb. 16, Boone said Grisham was "running at close to full speed." Over a week later, Grisham is still 7-to-0 days away from game action, as Boone told the media Sunday.

Is this overly concerning? Not necessarily. Grisham never really factored into the team's 2025 plans in a major way. But it's just another knock on the team's processes, as they relied on him to take DH reps and assist in the outfield, only to see that potentially go up in flames before spring training even began.

We'll stay on top of the next wave of updates, whenever they arrive. Who knows, maybe we'll get another fake injury/inexplicable diagnosis of some kind along the way.
