New York Yankees fans are numb to injury news, as they've been battered by it ever since 2018. It never ends. And it's gotten worse throughout the league. So it's not even a unique issue anymore. It is what it is.

But man, that good injury news?! That feels good. Slap me across the face with it. Harder! And we've got three developments that fans will surely like to hear.

First off, Gerrit Cole, who is recovering from Tommy John surgery, spoke with Jack Curry on Wednesday night and will be appearing in the YES Network broadcast booth this season. That's objectively awesome news for Yankees fans, who know Cole is a student of the game. He's one of the most knowledgable pitchers out there and can provide insightful analysis alongside Michael Kay and Paul O'Neill.

Cole also updated fans on his recovery and revealed everything's been going well. Can't wait to have him back in 2026.

Yankees Injury Update: Giancarlo Stanton twist, Luke Weaver hope

Another superstar in Giancarlo Stanton is nearing his return to the Bombers, as many have speculated he could be back by this weekend for the team's series against the Red Sox at Fenway Park. Stanton is a Red Sox killer, so we'd love to have him.

On top of that, Aaron Boone revealed an interesting twist with Stanton's return. In order to keep cycling his best bats into the lineup, he said Ben Rice could see some starts at catcher when Stanton's back in the fold and locked into the DH spot. Rice caught the final two innings of the Yankees' 10-2 win over the Royals on Tuesday night, so it's clear the plan is already in motion.

We don't know what this means for JC Escarra, but perhaps that could mean some games at third base if Pablo Reyes is DFA'd and Jazz Chisholm continues to deal with the few nagging injuries he's had? We'll see.

And finally, we deliver more good news as it pertains to Luke Weaver. The right-hander went down with a hamstring injury two weeks ago but just threw his second bullpen session and reported no issues. He said his hamstring felt "great."

We don't know if that means he'll return sooner than expected, but with how unpredictable hamstring strains can be, it's a great sign Weaver is this far ahead in his rehab. Originally projected to miss 4-6 weeks, Yankees fans can hold out hope their closer won't be laid up on the longer side after these recent developments.

They almost need an expedited return, too, with how shaky the bullpen has been in recent weeks.
