Will Warren was hoping to produce back-to-back productive outings for the Yankees on Monday night, something he's been unable to do this season. Well, the inefficiency streak remains alive after he was removed after just 3 1/3 innings.
The right-hander simply could not put hitters away and allowed four earned runs on six hits and two walks. This was against a struggling Orioles team that was 2-7 in their last nine games and managed to score five runs over their three games.
After hanging a 2-2 slider to Ryan O'Hearn, who clobbered a three-run homer, Warren's night ended shortly after. But it perhaps should have ended the moment a hot mic caught O'Hearn in the Orioles' dugout.
O'Hearn enjoyed some refreshing water, which was well-earned after his trot around the bases. After getting his sips in, he exclaimed "s--k my f---ing b-lls" for whatever reason. We're not sure who that was directed at, but we'll assume it was Warren for missing horribly with his put-out pitch.

Adley Rutschman's face says it all. He was as confused as we are, staring into the camera. O'Hearn began walking to the other end of the dugout as if nothing happened.
"I guess his mouth should get cleaned out," said Yankees broadcaster Michael Kay on the YES telecast. It all added some comedic relief to Warren's performance, something fans otherwise wouldn't be taking lightly given his concerning struggles to begin the season.
Warren now sports a 5.63 ERA and is dangerously falling out of favor given his failure to repair his image after his terrible 2024 showing (10.32 ERA in 22 2/3 innings). That was good for -1.2 WAR and he only pitched in six games.
The 25-year-old still has time to work through his issues, but he won't be afforded that luxury much longer if tangible progress isn't made. Had things not gone terribly wrong against the Guardians last week, we might be having a different conversation. But Warren, after five scoreless innings and just 77 pitches, was given the ball for the sixth. He allowed the first two batters to reach, prompting Aaron Boone to go to the bullpen, which melted down and charged those runners to Warren in what ended up being a narrow 3-2 loss.
An absolute "s--- my f---ing b-lls" moment in consecutive outings, we would say.
