Props to the haters. They won yet another round vs the New York Yankees, which has been the overwhelming narrative since 2001. Few moments in between have given the Bombers an edge big enough to overcome the wave of hate. And Jazz Chisholm Jr. really teed it up for everybody on Monday night.
The final entrant into the 2025 Home Run Derby, Chisholm Jr. was criticized endlessly the moment that news dropped. We defended him because ... why wouldn't we? He's been great all year, and he would've been on pace for a 30-30 season had he not missed a month of action.
But man ... you cannot hit three home runs in a contest in which that is the objective. He did hit one over 450 feet, but that was it. It was a rather excruciating five minutes of everybody's time. Even worse? Aaron Judge and Gleyber Torres were seen palling it up to hit Yankees fans in their feels even harder.
Then came the haymaker on social media. Everybody who laughed at Jazz last week was validated after his performance. Yet another national stage where the Yankees and their fans have to take it ... and take it ... and take it.
On the bright side, we had some original comedic roasting. If you're going to exist as a troll, you might as well bring some entertainment value. Congrats to some of you.

On second thought, after watching all the hitters, Chisholm by far had the "longest" swing, which usually isn't tailor-made for such an event. There was nothing that could be done, now that we think about it.

Just like Kaiser Soze, "poof, he's gone." And, yes, much like Aaron Rodgers' 2023 season with the New York Jets.

But what about Chisholm's stepfather, Geron Sands, who was throwing the batting practice. The slugger literally took the first five pitches when he stepped into the batter's box because none were on target and some were tailing aggressively. The man is the Bahamas national team coach!

But even when he started throwing strikes, Chisholm was either getting on top of too many balls or flying out to deep right field.

A number of official media accounts chimed in on the fun, but the crown goes to Foul Territory for the double roast of Jazz Chisholm and former Yankee Erik Kratz.

Even some self-deprecating Yankees fans couldn't resist. How could you not, after all? It was as bad as it gets.

ESPN provided the best coping mechanism for Yankees fans during the broadcast. "You know who's not disappointed right now? Every Yankees fan." Why? Because Chisholm was eliminated after the first round, and nobody needs to stress about the extra reps potentially affecting his shoulder or oblique issues (or potentially his swing mechanics, which is probably overblown anyway).
Yeah ... sure ... no Yankees fan is disappointed. We'll go with that. Because this team certainly hasn't given us second thoughts about their World Series contender status this year.
