Yankees' Cody Bellinger missing from Tuesday lineup vs. Tigers for nauseating reason

And they didn't exactly do him any favors in the graphic, either.

Recently, New York Yankees outfielder Cody Bellinger was forced to miss time with a back issue, the type that crops up from time to time and leaves him slightly indisposed, but not devastatingly pained. On Monday night into Tuesday, Bellinger probably spent a good deal of time praying for that back issue to return to being his primary worry.

According to Greg Joyce of the New York Post, Bellinger is slated to miss Tuesday's game after a bout of food poisoning originating from bad chicken wings.

In a graphic description of Bellinger's revolting response, Joyce noted that the Yankees' slugging outfielder was left "vomiting" overnight.

Food poisoning is often nebulous and tough to pin down. After all, technically, its origin could be anything you ate. You know how noxious chicken wings have to be for you to start to feel sick, and instantaneously go, "Yup, it was those"?

Notably, the Talkin' Yanks graphic announcing Bellinger's absence also did him no favors. He looked like death warmed over. Ironically, improper warming over probably caused this mess in the first place.

Can't help but feel this is also going to negatively affect Austin Wells' clubhouse burrito rankings for the week.

Bellinger got off to a hot start with the Yankees, taking Nestor Cortes Jr. about 60 feet over the porch in the second game of the season, and his athleticism will play a large role in this team's increased flexibility over the course of a long season. His hustle play late in Monday's otherwise sleepy loss, beating out a grounder, exemplified what he brings to the game (and seems even more impressive now that we know he was soon to be indisposed.

For now, Trent Grisham will take on an additional sliver of the spotlight after his heater over the weekend in Pittsburgh. The Yankees hope to have Bellinger back for the series finale on Wednesday, another getaway day day game to avoid the brunt of Detroit's brutal early season temperatures. The fewer opportunities the Yankees have to eat hotel food in this city, the better, it seems.
