Only one day removed from their epic Game 3 ALWC victory, the New York Yankees are still laughing about how Boston Red Sox fans messed with the wrong guy. Ahead of his historic performance, Yankees starter Cam Schlittler noticed that Red Sox fans were harassing his mother online, and he took that personally.

Schlittler channelled his fury into utter dominance, rendering Red Sox hitters helpless in Game 3 en route to eight innings of scoreless ball featuring 12 strikeouts and zero walks.

Thus, while the Red Sox themselves made plenty of mistakes that cost them a Wild Card series in which they led 1-0, Boston fans must also be held accountable for unleashing the beast that was Schlittler in the series’ defining game.

Yankees’ Cam Schlittler trolled Red Sox fans on X following his masterclass

Schlittler was pulled by Yankees manager Aaron Boone after eight innings and 107 pitches in Game 3, but it honestly felt like he had the energy to start the game over and destroy the Red Sox all over again.

As the camera continued to follow a still-wired Schlittler in the Yankees’ dugout after his departure from the mound, he could be seen standing up and animatedly talking with all of his teammates for the rest of the game, a far cry from slowly exhaling with a permanent seat on the bench and admiring his tiresome effort.

Despite firing rage-fueled fastballs for two hours, Schlittler was still full of the infinite energy that comes with true vengeance, and he couldn’t help but allow a small trickle of that spirit to sneak its way onto X later in the evening, in the form of a few hilarious posts.

First, shortly after midnight ET, Schlittler trolled Red Sox nation with a cruel play on Boston’s slogan. “Drinking dat dirty water,” Schlittler posted, with thousands of Red Sox fans clenching their fists in response.

A half hour later, Schlittler spoiled a viral Red Sox post from @LucilleBurdge by reminding Boston fans that their team had indeed just been eliminated.

While Red Sox fans are sure to have their blood boiling with Schlittler’s trolling, it was all fun and games. Notably, what Schlittler didn’t do was attack anyone’s family member online, something Boston fans couldn’t resist before Game 3.

“People from Boston had a lot to say before the game,” Schlittler said postgame, per MLB.com’s Bryan Hoch. “There’s a line I think they crossed a little bit. I’m a competitor. I’m going to go out there and make sure I shut them down. You know Boston fans. It’s just how it is. We’re aggressive back home and we’re gonna try and get under people’s skin. They just picked the wrong guy to do it to – and the wrong team to do it to as well.”
