What would a towering home run to the Yankee Stadium short porch be without Michael Kay's signature "there it goes, see ya" call? Would a Yankees victory be as sweet without John Sterling's iconic send-off "Yankees win! Theeeeeee Yankees win!"? Could any clubhouse reporter be as universally beloved as Meredith Marakovits?
The New York Yankees' broadcast team is arguably just as important as many of the ball club's players. Season after season, they serve as a familiar presence. We trust Kay to be an authoritative voice that monitors almost every second of Yankees baseball. We rely on analysts like David Cone and Jack Curry to give us the inside scoop. We wait for Meredith to deliver post and pre-game reactions from future legends like Aaron Judge and Gerrit Cole. In short, the Yankees simply wouldn't be the same without their stellar broadcasting team.
The 2025 season will see many of the YES Network crew returning to action, including Kay, Marakovits, Cone, and Curry. This season will also see the WFAN radio debut of David Sims, who is stepping in for the retired Sterling. Here's a breakdown of all the faces and voices who will chronicle the upcoming year for the Bronx Bombers.
Who are the Yankees' TV and radio announcers for 2025?
Michael Kay - TV Play-by-Play Announcer
Kay returns for his 33rd year as a Yankees broadcaster, taking on his usual play-by-play duties. Kay has earned 14 Emmy wins and 53 Emmy nominations while working for the YES Network. He's also the host of The Michael Kay Show on ESPN New York.
David Sims - Radio Play-by-Play Announcer
Sims enters his first season as the voice of Yankees radio broadcasts on WFAN, replacing the now-retired John Sterling. Sims was previously a TV play-by-play commentator for the Seattle Mariners, but his ties to New York run deep. He launched his career as a sportswriter for the New York Daily News and was the host of SportsNight, a call-in show that served as a precursor to WFAN. He also spent time as sports anchor for CBS' New York station and was a radio announcer for the New York Knicks in the 80s and 90s. Sims has big shoes to fill, but his long and successful career likely means he's up to the task.
David Cone - TV Analyst
Cone returned to Yankees world with a job at the YES Network in 2011 and hasn't looked back. Since joining the Yankees' broadcast team, he's also been a regular at ESPN's MLB broadcasts and launched his own podcast, Toeing the Slab, with the folks at Jomboy Media. In 2019, he co-authored (with Jack Curry) the book Full Count: The Education of a Pitcher.
Suzyn Waldman - Radio Color Commentator
Waldman, widely considered a trailblazer for women in sports media, has been a fixture in Yankees broadcasting since the mid-90s. Despite losing her longtime radio partner John Sterling to retirement, she'll be back in the booth this season alongside Sims.
Jack Curry - TV Analyst and Reporter
Curry was the Yankees' (and MLB) beat reporter for nearly two decades at the New York Times before joining YES in 2010. In addition to breaking stories about front office moves, Curry is also the author of several Yankees books, including The 1998 Yankees and Swing and a Hit. He also co-authored Full Count with David Cone.
Meredith Marakovits - TV Clubhouse Reporter
Marakovits has been with the Yankees since 2011 and has, for the sake of good reporting, had to endure seemingly countless Gatorade baths and Champagne-soaked celebrations. As the clubhouse reporter, she often is the first to speak with each game's biggest contributors. She also supplies valuable updates to the broadcast booth throughout games.
Paul O'Neill - TV Analyst
O'Neill is another Yankees legend who came back to the team in a broadcasting capacity. He's been with YES for more than 20 seasons, providing fans with an insider's look at all that goes on during the year.
Ryan Ruocco - TV Play-by-Play Announcer
Ruocco is a relative newcomer to the Yankees' broadcasting team, and often subs in for Kay during many regular season games. He's also a play-by-play announcer for the Brooklyn Nets and he co-hosted the podcast R2C2 alongside CC Sabathia. One day, Ruocco may fill Kay's shoes whenever Kay decides to call it quits. But until then, he endears himself to Yankees fans more and more with each passing season.
Other TV broadcasters you'll see and hear this season include analyst John Flaherty, studio anchors Bob Lorenz and Nancy Newman, and field reporter Chris Shearn.
On the Spanish-language radio station WADO, Francisco Rivera and Rickie Ricardo will be calling Yankees games for the 2025 season.
