What is Aaron Boone's celebration with Yankees coaches after every win?

Superstitious? Or a little stitious?

It's now become a major question among Yankees fans over the last week or so. What are manager Aaron Boone and the Yankees coaches doing after each victory when they emerge from the dugout and start gesturing toward the crowd?

It's been seen more and more, which has prompted the skipper to field questions from the media. But he's not revealing what it is ... for whatever reason.

After Friday night's victory over the Toronto Blue Jays at Yankee Stadium, Boone and his coaches looked high up into the stands and sent the signal. Cam Schlittler dominated the Jays, the Yankees scored just enough runs, and it was a crucial series-opening victory to set the tone for an important weekend. There's your recap.

But what's really spurred the curiosity was that it also occurred Wednesday after a win against the Orioles ... in Baltimore at Camden Yards (they were seen doing it in Toronto after Sunday's win, too).

Who are Boone and the coaches spotting in the crowd on the road? Is there a group of dedicated fans traveling to see as many Yankees games as humanly possible throughout the year and they've garnered the attention of the team? Are these family members or close friends of the coaching staff? We need answers.

Sadly, we aren't going to get them (at least not from the main source). Boone was asked about it on Talkin' Yanks this week and was also questioned by MLB.com's Bryan Hoch, but offered very little.

"Is it friends and family you're doing it with?" Jomboy of Talkin' Yanks asked.

"It's a little of everything," Boone replied.

In response to Hoch's question about it, Boone said "it's a mystery." Ok then. Let the legend grow and let us find out after the final victory in the World Series? That'll be fun.

If you want to continue wearing your tinfoil had to try and figure it out, WFAN's Craig Carton claims he knows the secret behind Boone's "victory point" as it's been dubbed.

Aaron Boone's victory celebration for Yankees may have underlying message to doubters

Carton claims he's in on it after the two "decided" on it in the offseason. They apparently wanted to see how long it would take for people to start asking about it, and here we are. It's August. It's unclear when this started, but we will say we surely do not remember anything from April or May.

The WFAN host claims it's a private message from Boone to him saying "See, I won another game" in what's become a "joke" between the two as a result of fan/media backlash about the Yankees' manager. Carton is a Boone believer and has apparently spoken to the skipper about his performance and that there's an effort to show up the doubters.

It would be something if Boone formed this type of secret alliance with Carton, who probably isn't the best ardent defender to have given his polarizing tendencies and controversial past. But it's also hard to believe Carton is straight up lying live on the air.

Theories will run afoot until Boone decides to divulge the specifics. Until then, think what you want. That's what'll make this more fun.
