Left fielder Tommy Pham has been a thorn in the New York Yankees' side across multiple stops in recent years — well, scratch that. He's been a thorn in every foe's side, and has behaved in a manner consistent with his overall vibe every time he's crossed paths with the Yanks and their fans.
Nobody screamed "Red Sox! RED SOX!!!" more than Pham, who joined Boston midseason in 2022 when Chaim Bloom was oddly trapped between selling and buying. Like most of the things he did during his Sox tenure, it actually worked out pretty nicely, netting Wilyer Abreu and keeping the roster afloat. It didn't work well enough, though; Boston missed the postseason, which is always nice.
Still, Pham managed to walk off the Yankees that summer and gloat while covered in ice water, because of course he did. Since then, he's joined the Mets, Diamondbacks, White Sox, Cardinals, and Royals, where he hit .455 in their four-game playoff exit against the 2024 Yankees.
Clearly, that still has him riled up. Pham's NSFW trash talk was on full display when his new team, the Pittsburgh Pirates, visited the Yankees last week in Tampa for an exhibition contest. While we can't hear what the fan who heckled Pham said to set him off, it certainly elicited a response and, uh, a challenge to his manhood.

The next audible fan in the video definitely said it best: "Stop taking the bait!!"
No. He cannot stop. He will quite literally never stop. Yum, yum, bait.
Both the Yankees and Pirates were in need of upgrading a clear hole this offseason; the Pirates in the outfield and the Yankees at third base. Stunningly, only the team owned by literally Bob Nutting has made an external move to address the vacancy thus far, and said "move" has already brought a swaggering edge to his new club.
Luckily, the Yankees handled business on the field in this exhibition contest, which Pham didn't exactly seem to be paying much attention to. Hopefully, that energy translates to the regular season, where Pham questions the crowd about their anatomy while the Yankees take home victories.
