The New York Yankees are looking to bounce back from a rough loss on Friday against the Baltimore Orioles when the two teams face off on Saturday.

Jhony Brito (1-0, 0.00 ERA) will make his second career start for New York after an impressive Major League debut where he allowed just two hits across five innings of work.

Cole Irvin (0-1, 13.50 ERA), one of Baltimore’s offseason acquisitions, gets the ball for the O’s on Saturday.

The Yankees haven’t gotten off to a hot start, but they may be undervalued on the road here with Brito on the mound.

Yankees vs. Orioles prediction and pick

Friday’s loss was a tough one of the Yanks, as they couldn’t seem to get over the hump despite scoring six runs against Dean Kremer and company.

Facing Irving marks a potential bounce-back spot for the Yankees, as he was rocked in his season debut, allowing six runs on eight hits in just four innings of work.

Brito isn’t going to get a ton of respect from oddsmakers since this is just his second Major League start, but if he can come close to his debut, the Yankees should be able to turn this over to the bullpen to pick up a win.

Baltimore has gotten off to a strong start at the plate this season, but the team also faced Boston’s dreadful pitching staff to open the 2023 campaign.

It’s rare that we’ll get the Yanks at -140 against an inferior opponent, so I’ll back them to win this game to set up a chance to take the series on Sunday.
