The New York Yankees got a needed bounce back win Saturday. In need of a dominant pitching performance after Clay Holmes' blown save the day prior, Domingo German did just that, but not without controversy.

Before the start of the fourth inning, Twins manager Rocco Baldelli saw to it that German was checked seemingly for foreign substance use. The spin rate on his pitches was way up and he was generating more swings and misses than we had seen over his first three starts of the season, across which he compiled a 5.87 ERA.

After German was given the all clear by umpiring crew, Baldelli threw a tamper tantrum and was swiftyl ejected from the game. German was perfect for 5.1 innings, while the Yankees got home runs from Kyle Higashioka and Anthony Rizzo on the way to a tidy 6-1 victory.

They'll have a chance to even the series in Sunday's finale, and they have just the pitcher on the mound to get it done. Let's see what the lineup looks like first, though.

Gerrit Cole will toe the rubber for the Yankees. The right-hander has looked the part of a Cy Young over his first three starts, pitching to a 3-0 record and 1.40 ERA. Cole's last start against Cleveland marked his roughest of the young season as he allowed two first innings runs, but he settled down with six scoreless innings from then on before New York's bats exploded en route to an 11-2 drubbing.

The Twins will counter with Pablo Lopez, who was acquired via trade in January. The Yankees were linked with Lopez throughout the offseason and reportedly turned down an audacious trade offer from the Marlins that would've sent Gleyber Torres and Oswaldo Cabrera to the Marlins. Lopez is 1-0 with a 1.35 ERA, 26 strikeouts and a 0.65 WHIP in three starts.
