Yankees Probable Pitchers & Starting Lineup vs. Orioles, April 8
The New York Yankees performed reasonably well in their first two home series of the season, taking home four wins out of six in matchups against the San Francisco Giants and Philadelphia Phillies. New York will get their AL East slate kickstarted in a road series against 2022 upstarts in the Baltimore Orioles.
In a herky-jerky first game of the series that featured several lead changes, a depleted Yankees bullpen ultimately was unable to pull out the victory and lost 7-6. Clarke Schmidt putting the team in a hole with yet another shaky start also didn't help matters out.
The Yankees will finish off their set against Baltimore over the weekend before heading to Ohio to take on the Cleveland Guardians and returning home for a series against the Minnesota Twins. With both of them starting the season hot, winning this series has become even more important for the Yankees.
Will the Yankees get back on the right track by pulling off a win at Camden Yards, or will Baltimore's surprisingly deep lineup be too much for this banged-up Yankees lineup to overcome on the road?
Yankees Lineup for Saturday, April 8 vs Orioles
Yankees Pitching Probables for Friday, April 8 vs Orioles
The Yankees will send Jhony Brito back onto the mound for his second professional start. After twirling five scoreless innings in his debut against the San Francisco Giants, Brito has quickly made himself a household name that the Yankees will rely on to eat up innings in important situations.
Baltimore will counter with left-hander Cole Irvin, who surrendered an unsightly five runs in four innings during his Orioles debut. However, Irvin did post a respectable 4.11 ERA in two seasons as a starter with the Oakland Athletics, so he needs to be taken seriously by this Yankee order.
