Juan Soto is moving up the odds board to win AL MVP after a great start to the 2024 season.

The Juan Soto era couldn't have gotten off to a much better start for the New York Yankees.

The three-time All-Star not only saved the day for the Yankees on Opening Day, cutting down a runner at the plate, but he's hitting the cover off the ball as well.

Soto has posted a slash line of .529/.600/.765 through his first four games, tallying nine hits, one homer, and four runs batted in. Hard to ask for more, huh?

The Yankees are fresh off a sweep against the Houston Astros, and at 4-0, oddsmakers are already angling for Soto to win the AL MVP award.

Sure, the Yankees have to play 158 more games, but Soto entered the season as one of the favorites -- alongside co-star Aaron Judge -- to win this award. Now, it looks like the Yankees may have struck gold by trading for the star outfielder this past offseason.

American League MVP odds in 2024 season

The AL MVP race is far from finished, but Soto is showing why he was picked to finish among the top players in the AL this season.

With Shohei Ohtani no longer in the American League, this award is truly up for the taking, and Soto has been an MVP candidate most of his career, finishing sixth in the voting last season, second in 2021, fifth in 2020, and ninth in 2019.

Is this finally the year he gets it done? Yankees fans sure hope it is.

Juan Soto skyrockets to favorite to win AL MVP

After hovering around the same odds as Judge to open the season, Soto is now the clear-cut favorite to win AL MVP.

Betting on an award market this early can be volatile, but it is worth noting that Soto has already been priced as a favorite. This means that if he plays well, his odds are going to shrink faster and faster. If Yankee fans want to place a small wager on their new star outfielder, I certainly wouldn't blame them.

Plus, we haven't even seen Soto at Yankee Stadium yet, where could thrive with the short porch in right. Things are coming together nicely for the superstar outfielder in his contract year.
