UPDATE: It's a left elbow injury for Chisholm. He was examined by the White Sox team doctor, and will undergo imaging tomorrow. Obviously, there was a reason for the imaging to be ordered. That's very, very bad.

The New York Yankees' trade deadline consisted of the electric and versatile Jazz Chisholm, reliever Mark Leiter Jr., and bullpen experiment Enyel De Los Santos. It wasn't nearly enough at the time, and looks like a far worse haul if there are consequences for Chisholm's electricity after Monday's horrific game in Chicago.

Down 4-1 in the fifth inning, Chisholm used his exceptional baseball IQ to take off running on an Anthony Volpe infield single to the left side. He sprinted to the plate and slid forcefully, touching down safely ahead of the tag.

Unfortunately, his safety only extended to the space between the lines, and spoke nothing of bodily harm.

Chisholm, spotted in the dugout flexing his shoulder/arm, was replaced by pinch hitter Ben Rice prior to his next at-bat.

Cautious fans no doubt feared for Chisholm's health and well being after he fouled a ball hard off his shin in Sunday's 8-7 victory, then immediately started racing around the bases and igniting stolen base attempts. He also took an awkward slide into third base earlier in this contest, leading with the leg, but appeared to escape disaster there.

Not so much when he went flying towards the dish in a desperate attempt to keep hope alive against a record-setting bottom feeder.

At the time, Chisholm's enthusiasm made perfect sense; he cut a tanking team's lead to just two runs midway through the contest, acting as an igniter. In retrospect, if any postgame tests turn up disastrous results, it'll be looked at as another foolish endeavor in a long night of them.

Oh, and about that trade deadline? De Los Santos imploded fully in the seventh inning of this game, putting things out of reach against a White Sox team that probably couldn't believe their good fortune. That makes plenty of disbelief to go around in this one.
