Yankees icon Wade Boggs further builds legend with hilarious PBR ad
Long before Yankees Hall of Famer Wade Boggs was famous for riding horses, he was better known for riding planes three sheets to the wind.
Boggs' legend has only grown in recent years, as the show "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" helped introduce his brew-downing prowess to a national audience. According to the man himself, he once consumed 107 beers on a cross-country flight.
Naturally, things start to get a little hazy, at that point. A person might be inclined to, I don't know, accuse Pabst Blue Ribbon of stealing their entire look and vibe to create the company's mascot, Cool Blue, then hold the grudge for over 30 years.
That's exactly what Boggs has done, according to PBR's hilarious new campaign and partnership. Boggs demands answers, and just dropped a trailer explaining his side of the story.
Yankees legend Wade Boggs is PBR's Cool Blue ... right?
Further details can be found at BoggsIsBlue.com, which seems to be the result of the conspiracies criss-crossed on Boggs' corkboard.
Boggs became the first member of the 3,000 hit club to reach the milestone with a home run back in 1999. Now, three players have done it, but against the odds, they've all been Yankees: Boggs, Alex Rodriguez, and Derek Jeter.
Either way, it looks like we might have to up Boggs' hit total by one, because he appears to have another winner on his hands with this upcoming partnership.
From "The Simpsons" to "Always Sunny," Boggs and his trademark vibe have always been a good bet to remain in the mainstream. We can't wait for updates on this saga.
Wade Boggs appears on the Yanks Go Yard Podcast this week courtest of Pabst Blue Ribbon and BoggsIsBlue.com.
