The 2023 T-Mobile Home Run Derby (which will be held at T-Mobile Park!) is set for July 10 at 8 p.m. ET in Seattle. Right now, the only confirmed participant is Mariners star Julio Rodriguez, as we wait for more to throw their hat in the ring/become official.

Mookie Betts stated his intention to join the action as long as he's named to the NL All-Star team (which at this point is a foregone conclusion), so we can count on him being there. As for the rest? Outside of reigning champ Juan Soto, it's unclear who else might consider the event.

The Home Run Derby has taken place as part of All-Star weekend since 1985 and various New York Yankees players have participated and represented the Bombers well by winning it all. It's unclear (and unlikely) if any Yankees either offer or are asked to take part in 2023, but here's all you need to know about the history of the Home Run Derby from a Yankees fan's lens and from a general fan's lens.

History of Yankees Home Run Derby Winners

  • 2005: Phillies' Bobby Abreu (Comerica Park)
  • 2015: Reds' Todd Frazier (Great American Ballpark)
