The New York Yankees continue to play well, taking two of three games from the Los Angeles Dodgers over the weekend.

After a day off on Monday, the Yanks are back at home for a matchup with the Chicago White Sox, who are 26-35 on the season but have won three straight.

Lucas Giolito gets the ball for the White Sox, and he has a 4-4 record with a 4.08 ERA this season. The Yankees counter with Clarke Schmidt (2-5, 5.01 ERA).

Schmidt has been much better over his last three starts, but does he warrant to be a favorite in this matchup?

Let’s dive into the odds and a pick for this AL matchup:

White Sox vs. Yankees prediction and pick

There are a few reasons why I like the Yankees in this game, starting with the turnaround for Clarke Schmidt over his last three starts.

The Yankees youngster has allowed just three earned runs over his last three outings, lowering his Fielding Independent Pitching to 3.95 on the season. That tells us he’s in line for some positive regression from his 5.01 ERA to this point.

The Yankees have struggled to give Schmidt run support in those games, but I still think he may be the better pitcher in this matchup.

Giolito has allowed at least four earned runs in two of his last four starts, raising his FIP to 4.45.

I question the White Sox ability to give him run support since they rank 27th in OPS over the last 15 days. Also, Chicago is a brutal 10-20 on the road.

I love the Yanks to win this game.
