MLB Spring Breakout: What to Expect From Yankees vs. Blue Jays
The Yankees' roster for this event will be comprised of MLB Pipeline's Top 30 prospects; the new list recently dropped. While a rehabbing Jasson Dominguez won't be able to take center stage, expect healthy doses of Spencer Jones, Chase Hampton and Jorbit Vivas, competing against Toronto's best. The game will be scheduled for seven innings, but if both teams agree on an in-the-moment extension to nine frames, it could happen. Whatever it takes to get Henry Lalane in the game is what we'd like to see. The rosters, formally announced on Thursday, are quite expansive, including prospects most Yankee fans have likely only heard of.
You'll also be able to catch a few forthcoming rule changes on display; Spring Breakout action in Tampa will feature the use of ball-strike challenges thanks to the ABS system. If you haven't caught a glimpse of this innovation in the minors yet, March 16's action should get you acclimated to MLB's possible future.
