Restless Yankees fans freaking out over who caught Aaron Judge home run vs. Orioles

Yankees fans looking for something to complain about in case Tuesday's AL East clinch party got spoiled were provided with plenty of scapegoats in the first half of the game.

There was Alex Verdugo, who rapped into the easiest double play you've ever seen just as Orioles righty Dean Kremer was beginning to lose the zone. There was the right field foul pole, which curved into the flight path of Anthony Santander's liner down the line in the sixth inning (probably, unconfirmed).

And then there was the man who harshed Yankees Twitter's mellow as soon as they decided to celebrate the monster Aaron Judge home run that cut Baltimore's early lead in half.

There goes Judge's 56th home run of the year, directly into the glove of ... Zack Hample, the man who's caught one million baseballs?! Twitter noticed. Oh, boy, did Twitter notice.

Aaron Judge's 56th home run vs. Orioles caught by Zack Hample, and Yankees fans aren't thrilled

Of course, this represents a classic case of misdirected anger. No amount of tweets will banish Verdugo from the lineup or guide his grounders to the right side safely into the hole, so all that's left is for fans to bash Hample and critique the game outside the game.

Still ... how does this keep happening? How is he so good at this? Is he the Aaron Judge of Standing in Places? And why didn't he feel like taking a flight down to Atlanta for the week and checking out Mets-Braves instead?

Nope. Fella's in the Bronx, as per usual. And the longer the AL East-clinching delay lasts, the more often you're going to see Hample's neon yellow body coming down with another Judgian Blast. It's all fans have tonight. It's all fans see when they close their eyes. It's got to stop, and it's got to stop now. Somebody hit a homer to the other porch, please.

Give Orioles fans credit: they're better at this particular skill.
