Either get to the Bronx or get to a TV this Sunday afternoon and be sure to get your popcorn because this is a can’t miss pitching matchup. The 47-29 Texas Rangers will hand the ball to Nathan Eovaldi the day after a 1-0 loss to the New York Yankees to bring the series even at one apiece. The 42-35 Yankees will counter with Gerrit Cole.

Eovaldi is 9-3 with a 2.80 ERA in 15 starts this season while Cole is 8-1 in 16 starts with a 2.64 ERA. Let’s get into the odds for this matchup where the Yankees are home favorites in the Bronx.

Rangers vs. Yankees prediction and pick

I cannot wait for first pitch today and hopefully for Yankees fans, this great pitcher’s duel will start to wash again the pain brought on by the news of Aaron Judge’s torn ligament in his toe that will keep him sidelined. Without Judge, the Yankees have been forced to win just about every game 1-0 like they did yesterday. In June they are last in the MLB in runs scored, 61, and last in team OPS at .612.

Even Anthony Rizzo who was the only Yankee pulling his own weight when Judge was healthy has fallen off a cliff. Rizzo is hitting .175 this month with only three extra base hits, all doubles. His .510 ERA is still nearly 80 points better than Giancarlo Stanton who is at .433 in June even with his two home runs.

Cole and Eovaldi have both been absolute workhorses this year and both will go deep into this ballgame to give their side a chance to win. If any offense is likely to break through it will be the Rangers, but the best bet in this one is to just take the under.
