Things can’t get much worse for the New York Yankees, as they squandered an absolute gem from Domingo German on Monday night to lose 3-2 to the Cleveland Guardians.

The Yankees made not one, but two errors in the ninth inning to seal the loss after leading 2-0 for essentially the entire game. New York’s offense remains stuck in mud, but there is one man who may be able to end the team’s losing streak.

That man is Gerrit Cole.

The Yankees’ ace gets the ball on Tuesday night looking to improve upon his 5-0 record and 1.11 ERA. Cole has allowed just five runs all season in 40.2 innings pitched.

He will face Guardians youngster Tanner Bibee, who is making his second career Major League start. Bibee threw 5.2 innings of one-run ball against the Colorado Rockies on April 26 in his debut.

Here’s a look at the latest odds and my best bet for the Yankees-Guardians matchup on Tuesday:

Guardians vs. Yankees odds, run line and total

Guardians vs. Yankees prediction and pick

Yes, the Yankees have dropped four straight games and have played like one of the worst teams in baseball in the process, but they are a must bet when Cole is on the mound.

The five-time All-Star has been the best pitcher in baseball through the first month of the season, ranking in the 86th percentile in expected ERA and allowing two or fewer runs in all six of his starts.

The Yankees have gone 6-0 when Cole is on the mound, and he should be able to slow down this Guardians lineup that struggled to get to German for eight innings on Monday.

While Bibee was solid in his debut, punching out eight hitters and allowing just six hits, it’s hard to trust a rookie pitcher over a Cy Young candidate.

At some point, the Yankees have to turn things around offensively, but they may not even need to do that with Cole on the mound. In his first start against Cleveland this season, he allowed just two runs in seven innings of work.

Since New York’s offense is struggling, I’m just going to lay the juice on the moneyline and take the Yankees to win rather than covering the moneyline.

This is a bet strictly on Cole’s dominant start continuing on Tuesday.
