Aaron Boone's impassioned NSFW postgame rant is simply too late for Yankees

It's right there in front of us.

Get this: over the last two months, the New York Yankees have the same record as the lowly LA Angels (25-27). Get THIS: the Yankees are 15-25 since June 7, which is the second-worst mark in MLB. GET THIS: the Yankees lost every Subway Series game in a single season for the first time since 2013 and just the second time ever.

But you know what? It's still right there in front of us. That's what manager Aaron Boone had to say yet again after Wednesday night's 12-3 shellacking at the hands of the Mets (one Yankees run scored with two outs in the ninth, epic!).

Boone's been saying that for years. And for years, the Yankees have not gotten the job done. In fact, they haven't come close — and please don't call 2022 a "success" because they barely got by a middling Guardians team before getting destroyed by the eventual World Champion Astros.

This Yankees team has regressed under Boone since he took over in 2018. It's not all his fault, we will admit. Brian Cashman, every single year, finds himself in unfathomable roster predicaments. Aaron Judge disappears in big moments. Giancarlo Stanton gets injured for a minimum six weeks. Etc. Etc.

But Boone is a problem because these skids get worse and worse and worse under his watch. His postgame interviews are gibberish. He never has a genuine answer to anything. The long pauses. The "uhhh ya knows." The "well obviouslys." The "Um, I means." This version of the Yankees cannot handle the media, the fans, the heat, the pressure, you name it. And at some point, the manager is to blame because the status quo can't continue on.

Boone finally reached his boiling point Wednesday night and went off in the postgame. He was finally sick of being asked a new version of, "Hey, Aaron, any reason why this team continues to suck in new ways every single night? It's a very bizarre development that we think you, as the man in charge, may have some insight to."

The truth is, Boone should've gone off like this weeks ago. This team hasn't been the same since Clay Holmes delivered a patented meltdown against the Royals back on June 13. Since that day (including that loss), the Yankees are 11-23 and have won only a single series.

Part of the reason is because the roster isn't great. Part of the reason is because Boone will put Jahmai Jones at leadoff and JD Davis at cleanup on a given night. Part of the reason is because there's been the same, relaxed rallying cry for three years now. It's clearly not working. Time to try something else.

It does matter what you say, Aaron. But you or the Yankees don't realize that the reason it feels like it doesn't matter is because nobody ever says the right thing. Nobody ever offers assurance, comfort, guidance, intuition. Nothing. It's all lies. Platitudes. Cookie cutter responses. Fans are constantly upset because they watch the same things happen over and over again and are told what they're witnessing isn't reality.

For the third year in a row, the damage is done. The bleeding hasn't stopped, and there's no indication it will. The same story has played out. So who are we supposed to blame as we spend countless hours watching 162+ games of disappointing baseball from a team with a top payroll in the game?
