Weekend buzz threatened to get the New York Yankees' trade deadline started early, but just as he did during the offseason, YES Network's Jack Curry parachuted in to clarify things and halt the madness on Tuesday night.

Fresh off the Yankees' dramatic win over the Toronto Blue Jays, Curry hopped onto the YES Postgame Show to clarify some of the rumblings he was hearing. Specifically, he took aim at early Eugenio Suárez rumors with a well-aimed bucket of cold water.

WFAN's Rickie Ricardo got the ball rolling by teasing an expansive trade package that was reportedly on the table — though whose table, the Yankees or Diamondbacks, we did not know. According to Ricardo, Cam Schlittler and four other Yankees pieces were in the offer, and it would've netted them Suárez and his 36 homers and counting, plus right-hander Merrill Kelly and bullpen arm Jalen Beeks.

But, in much the same way he did when Nolan Arenado Fever took over the Twitterverse after the Winter Meetings, Curry claimed that, if such a proposal exists, it hasn't been substantively discussed.

Yankees, Diamondbacks reportedly haven't had 'substantive' trade conversations on Eugenio Suárez

Maybe the Yankees and Diamondbacks rekindle things — or, more specifically, kindle them in the first place. For now, it would appear that cheaper (and more versatile) third base options like Ke'Bryan Hayes, Willi Castro, and Ryan McMahon would be the Yankees' preference, based on the tea leaves. And, yes, Arenado is available again. Any biters?

Curry also noted that there have been a few "erroneous" reports connecting the Yankees to players they don't have interest in. Would that be Suárez? One of their rumored pitching "preferences," like Mitch Keller? Only the folks in that building, including Curry, know for certain, and they're beginning to tell us a couple of nuggets, as the misinformation swirls.

Expect a few more "erroneous" mentions in the coming days as the Yankees look to fill multiple holes in one fell swoop. Given their current needs in the bullpen, the team's off day on Thursday feels like a pretty good opportunity to usher some new names through the clubhouse door.
