Left-hander Max Fried has been beyond special for a New York Yankees team that needed any semblance of a lift it could muster in the wake of Gerrit Cole's season-ending surgery. The Yankees were hoping for someone who could mimic the work of a left-handed co-ace after Carlos Rodón's spotty first two years, and they received a Cy Young candidate, elite stopper and pickoff artist in exchange.

And it only cost them the 136th overall pick in the 2025 MLB Draft (and a boatload of money, but who's counting?).

A fourth-round compensation pick in this weekend's draft will head to Atlanta to officially finalize the December signing. The Yankees' first-round pick was also bumped down 10 spots to account for their luxury tax indiscretions (cool). Beyond those shuffles, the Yankees will largely get off scot-free for the remainder of the draft, during which they'll most likely look to stockpile pitching once again.

Here's a look at the MLB Draft order, as well as where the Yankees will select.

Complete List of Yankees' Draft Picks in 2025 MLB Draft

No. 39 Overall, Competitive Balance Round A (First Selection)
No. 103 Overall, Third Round
No. 134 Overall, Fourth Round
No. 164 Overall, Fifth Round

The Yankees will then make the 29th overall selection in every round from the sixth through the 20th. That includes picks:

No. 194, No. 224, No. 254, No. 284, No. 314, No. 344, No. 374, No. 404, No. 434, No. 464, No. 494, No. 524, No. 554, No. 584, No. 614

Who will the Yankees target in the 2025 MLB Draft, according to the latest mock drafts?

Last summer, the Yankees went insane in the pitching department in an effort to beef up their reserves after a few trade deadlines of depletion. It worked; top pick Ben Hess, a powerful righty out of Alabama, starred early before running into some roadblocks, while LSU's Griffin Herring has emerged as a mid-round jewel.

This year, the Yankees have the lowest available bonus pool in the entire draft, totaling $5,383,600 after being decimated by — say it with us now! — luxury tax spending. There's a reason they've been tied to so many similar collegiate arms at No. 39 overall, like Hess' ex-teammate Riley Quick of the Crimson Tide or righty JB Middleton of Southern Missouri.

ESPN also tied the Yankees to moderate-ceiling high schoolers who wouldn't break the bank, like second baseman Sean Gamble or center fielder Slater de Brun.

The whole thing kicks off Sunday night at 6:00 PM live from Atlanta, with the Yankees making a pair of selections on Opening Night, which will end after Pick 105.
