Clint Frazier has the only appropriate response to Yankees rebranding Triple-A Scranton

The New York Yankees announced a pair of significant rebrands on Tuesday morning: one that featured private equity stomping all over their beloved big-league brand (fun!), and one still to come that involves new wallpaper on the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders.

2026 will be the final season where the Triple-A Yankees affiliate is known by that moniker, which they've carried since 2013. They used to be the Yankees, and probably won't go back to that. The Red Barons will probably stay in the past, too, buried with their Phillies affiliation (sorry, Chase Utley). Once upon a time, they almost picked the Trolley Frogs and, let's be honest, probably should pick the damn Trolley Frogs this time.

But for now, it's RIP RailRiders, which has left the Yankees prospect who arguably has embraced the franchise most strongly over the years, Clint Frazier, to pick up the pieces the only way he knows how.

There was a time when Frazier was the most famous occupant of the Scranton Shuttle, behind Michael Scott and Dwight K. Schrute, and the slugger has chosen to relive that moment on Tuesday. Frazier resurfaces most often on Yankees/Baseball Twitter when there are trade packages afoot, but we all know that's unfair. No. 77 was a very legit prospect with very legit skills who shined for the Yankees in 2020, posting a .905 OPS and 1.8 bWAR in 39 games. His career was knocked off track by worrisome concussion issues. Back in 2018, Frazier and Rookie of the Year runner-up Miguel Andújar were enticing trade targets with value. Now they're memes — and at least Frazier has leaned into it affably, posting his emo photo in The Electric City on its most appropriate day.

Frazier's best year down on the farm, was 2018, when he ripped 10 home runs in 48 games with Phyllis and Stanley in the stands, good for a .963 OPS. Somehow, he's sitting on 99 career home runs at the minor-league level, which means we could be in for a good old-fashioned "Mr. 3,000" scenario as the RailRiders plot their final days. Don't say we never gave you any good ideas...

Now, one final thought: sorry to Wilkes-Barre, but any chance we can get "Wilkes-Barre" out of there? Just Scranton. It's cleaner.
