Carlos Rodón just logged what could be his final rehab start before returning to the Yankees. The left-hander threw 58 pitches and finished with 4 1/3 scoreless innings with Double-A Somerset on Thursday night. He struck out seven batters and allowed just two hits and a walk. We'd say that's good enough to get back into the mix after dealing with elbow inflammation.
We'll wait on the confirmation in the coming days, but now is a great time to remind Yankees fans of the Carlos Rodón Foundation, which the pitcher and his wife, Ashley, founded back in 2024.
It stemmed from an horrific experience Ashley and Carlos endured back in 2018. In the span of just three months, Ashley suffered two miscarriages as the couple was hoping to have their first child. Anybody who's even had a minor scare with pregnancy complications can understand the gut-wrenching reality of what the Rodón's went through.
But Carlos and Ashley focused their efforts to find happiness and dig themselves out of the darkness. The foundation aims to help families afford fertility treatment costs. After Ashley's miscarriages, she sought out in vitro fertilization (IVF), which brought her and Carlos three lovely children: Willow, Bo and Silo Antonio.
Ashley did an extensive Q&A with Kindbody, in case you were interested in learning more about their lives and motivation to help others in need.
As part of the foundation, the Willow Grant was launched as another effort to fund IVF and fertility grants for families in need, with 100% of proceeds going directly to the cause. There are 168 experiences/items up for grabs for those who'd like to support the cause in an auction that will last until Aug. 25. Some of the auction highlights include:
- Meet-and-Greets & Autographed Gear: Includes a meet-and-greet with Cody Bellinger or Gerrit Cole, an Aaron Judge signed jersey, a Yoshinobu Yamamoto WBC jersey, a Patrick Mahomes signed football, a Kyle Busch signed helmet, and more.
- Ultimate Field & Broadcast Experiences: Deliver the game ball at Yankee Stadium, or join the YES Network broadcast team inside their booth behind home plate during a regular-season home game.
- Fishing Day with Carlos Rodón: An exclusive, hands-on outdoor trip hosted by Carlos Rodón himself.
The cheapest item is $20 (yeah, even you can contribute and buy a cool Yankees hat!) and the most expensive is $8,000 (save that one for Hal Steinbrenner to enjoy). If you, a loved one or a friend have had similar experiences with pregnancy complications, then you know how expensive and mentally taxing it can be.
A little bit goes a long way, and the Rodón's are going above and beyond to help those who need some support from the community.
